Story County Medical Center Long Term Care is committed to providing quality care
for its residents in a supportive and caring atmosphere.
The 80-bed nursing home provides 24-hour care while offering a lifestyle that encourages
independence, provides comfort and security, meets individual needs and encourages
personal choice.
The facility offers two dining areas, newly remodeled dining/activities
area, a chapel and movie room, as well as a comfortable conversation area on each
floor. Guests are welcome to use any area of the facility while visiting with residents.
All residents are cared for by trained nursing staff. All SCMC staff are certified
by the State of Iowa. Physicians visit residents on an as-needed basis, and an emergency
physician is on-call at all times through Story County Medical Center’s Emergency
Department.

In addition to medical services, a comprehensive daily activities program is provided
for all residents under the direction of a Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist.
Musical programs, Red Hat Society meetings, devotions and cooking classes are just
a few of the activities that are offered each month. LTC also has a wheel-chair
accessible van for day trips, scenic tours and other outside activities.
Exercise
and social interaction are encouraged for all residents. Exercise equipment is available
for residents to use with nursing supervision.
LTC also has numerous pets so “pet lovers” can feel more at home.
