The Social Services Department at Story County Medical Center is actively involved
in both the Medical Center and Long Term Care. Our social worker is here to assist
prospective patients, residents and their families in addressing social, financial,
emotional, placement and other related concerns. The social worker is part of the
Medical Center trauma team and a part of crisis intervention in the Emergency Department.
The Social Services Department is involved in community, family and patient education
and functions as an active information and referral source for Story County. Telephone
and email inquiries are welcomed in addition to personal visits.
The Social Services Office is open Monday through Friday 8:30am through 5:00pm and
by appointment on weekends.
Meet SCMC's Social Worker
Linda McHose, LISW
Linda
McHose has been a Social Worker for Story County Medical Center since 1988 and is
licensed by the State of Iowa as a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW). She
has a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and a Masters Degree in Social Work from
the University of Iowa.
Linda is the Social Service Consultant for Colonial Manor in Zearing and also a
working member of the Psychiatric Crisis Team at Broadlawns Polk County Hospital
in Des Moines. She has taught for Des Moines Area Community College, and, in the
past worked for the Iowa Department of Human Services. She is recognized as a QMRP-
Qualified Mental Retardation Professional, active in the Mercy Affiliate Social
Worker’s Group, and a member of the Story County Case Management Team.
